McLaren ace Alonso was driving for Toyota alongside Kazuki Nakajima and Sebastian Buemi, with the trio holding off the team's sister auto to take a gruelling victory.

Toyota have finally reigned victorious at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2018.
The advantage seemed to have swung to the number seven vehicle when Buemi was penalised with a 60-second stop-and-go penalty for speeding in a caution zone shortly after night fell on Saturday. Thanks to Alonso's effort, Nakajima was able to make easy work of Kobayashi in the sister auto just before two-thirds distance.
Alonso, who is also a double Monaco Grand Prix victor, has made a big play about becoming only the second driver to take the "Triple Crown of Motorsport" and Le Mans is the second box to be ticked.
In the 16th hour of the race, Nakajima retook the lead and the number eight auto was in control for the duration.

But Toyota insisted that the two cars went into the race with equal chances of winning. In 2016, Nakajima himself was in the lead Toyota about to cross the finish line, but with five minutes to go in the race a small hardware failure brought the vehicle to a dead stop in the final lap.
