Jordan is the powerful Republican founder of the House Freedom Caucus and dark horse candidate for speaker.
The glitch appears to clear up seemingly contradictory statements by Jordan's office and Porter Wright, the law firm leading Ohio State's investigation into Dr. Richard Strauss.
Ohio State announced in April that it is investigating Strauss' tenure as a team doctor, which lasted from the mid-1970s to the late 1990s. One man said he directly reported the abuse to Jordan; all four said Jordan could not have been unaware of the inappropriate behavior. Jordan said. "Conversations in the locker room are a lot different than people coming up talking about abuse".
"We knew of no abuse, never heard of abuse".
Jordan was an assistant coach on the team from 1986 to 1994. "But nothing -I mean, things they said about me were just flat-out not true".
"What happened drove me out of the sport", the former athlete, John Dailey, told NBC News.
Vitter appeared to be referring to a report published Thursday by the conservative Daily Caller, which noted two of Jordan's accusers, Mike DiSabato and Dunyasha Yetts, had histories of engaging in troubling business dealings.

As Jordan faces these accusations, some have pointed to the past legal troubles of the alleged victims and questioned their reliability. Yetts was accused of bilking investors out of $1.8 million as part of an investment scheme he ran from 1998 to 2001. But he's not hiding that fact as he moves foward with these allegations against Strauss and Jordan.
"I don't believe them at all", he told reporters on Air Force One, before a raucous campaign rally in Montana.
"To date, Rep. Jordan has not responded to those requests", Kathleen Trafford said in a statement provided by Ohio State.
"I don't believe them at all".
"I think Jim is in a position where he doesn't know what to say now", said DiSabato, blaming Jordan's stance on "terrible advice" from political advisers. He said he was surprised Jordan had denied knowing anything about it: "I would say that's kind of hurtful". "But at the end of the day, he is absolutely lying if he says he doesn't know what was going on".
"I participated with Jimmy [Jordan] and the other wrestlers in locker-room talk about Strauss". He recalled an incident where Strauss - whose locker was next to Jordan's - had dressed after a shower to leave the building, but then disrobed and went back in for another one after noticing a favorite athlete entering the shower room.
