State Police say three children were struck and killed by a pickup truck in northern in as they were about to board a school bus. A fourth child, Maverik Lowe, 11, was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital in serious condition.
Three children died at the scene.
As previously reported, three children, 6-year-old twins Xzavier and Mason Ingle and their 9-year-old sister Alivia Stahl all passed away at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. He suffered multiple broken bones and other injuries.
Indiana State Police said a pickup truck struck the children as they were crossing the street from a mobile home park near 4600 N. State Road 25 in Rochester. He reportedly activated the stop arm and exterior lighting as he was picking up children from the Westside of the road.
"You don't cause that kind of damage to a pickup truck hitting children at regular speed", said Manuzak.
An investigation by Indiana State Police officers resulted in the arrest of 24-year-old Alyssa L. Shepherd.
