A crowdfunding initiative up set by two US Muslim groups has raised nearly $80,000 for the surviving victims of Saturday's synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh.
Bowers shot his victims with an AR-15, used in numerous nation's mass shootings, and three handguns, all of which he owned legally and had a license to carry, according to a law enforcement official who wasn't authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation, and who spoke Sunday on the condition of anonymity.
Francis led prayers for Pittsburgh on Sunday in St. Peter's Square, a day after a gunman who had expressed hatred of Jews opened fire in the synagogue during Sabbath services, killing 11 people. All of them were middle-aged or over, including two brothers and a 97-year-old woman.
Trump also told reporters he planned to travel to Pittsburgh this week.
Police said the suspect had three handguns and an assault-style rife at the shooting.
Six people, including four police officers, were injured. The oldest victim was Rose Mallinger, 97, of Squirrel Hill. During the shooting, a bris ― a Jewish circumcision ceremony for an infant boy ― was reportedly taking place at the Tree of Life synagogue.
The shooting, which has sparked an outpouring of grief and shock from American Jews, came just days after a pipe bomb was sent to prominent Jewish philanthropist George Soros, who has been the target of what many see as anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.
In addressing the family members of the victims, the mayor said: "We are here as a community of one for you".

Mr Bowers was taken to a hospital where he was listed in fair condition with multiple gunshot wounds.
Bowers had made many anti-Semitic posts online, including one early on Saturday.
He said authorities believed the suspect entered the synagogue, murdered the worshippers and was leaving when he encountered a uniformed police officer.
"You have to talk to them in a way they understand", he said. The groups said they are partnering with the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh to distribute the funds.
The Anti-Defamation League said it is likely the deadliest attack on the Jewish community in American history.
"I don't think that the answer to this problem is solved by having our synagogues, mosques and churches filled with armed guards or our schools filled with armed guards", Peduto said during an appearance on NBC News' "Meet The Press".
