Square Enix has chose to cancel three of the four upcoming pieces of DLC as it begins to shift resources away from Final Fantasy 15. In the latest Square Enix livestream, they learned some pretty sad news.
Like we've mentioned, Square Enix and Tabata broke the news on a recent livestream, which Enix instated a while ago as a means to communicate with Final Fantasy XV fans. According to Eurogamer, Tabata was given the option of turning Luminous Productions into one of Square Enix's regular business divisions, or spin it off into a separate company with investment from the publisher. As for his future, he announced plans to take on "a brand new project" that will "draw on all my past experiences", at a new company of his own creation. Episode Ardyn, which will flesh out the game's world 30 years prior to Final Fantasy XV's story, will still make it to gamers' systems, with a planned release set for March of 2019.

The announcement follows analysis that Boeing has done since the crash of Lion Air flight JT610 last week into the sea off Java. The incident happened just 10 days after another jet belonging to the low-priced airliner crashed with 189 people on board.

Polygon said Tabata had "a project that I truly wish to solidify as my next challenge after FFXV". The only one left off the chopping block is Episode Ardyn, which will focus on the game's main antagonist. "For that reason, I have chose to leave my current position and start my own business in order to achieve my goal".
