The angle of attack sensor keeps track of the angle of the aircraft nose relative to oncoming air to prevent the plane from stalling and diving.
The condition can even lead to "excessive nose-down attitude, significant altitude loss, and possible impact with terrain", the official noted.
Bloomberg News earlier reported that Boeing was said to be preparing to issue an alert to operators of the 737 Max jet in response to the investigation into the October 29 crash of the Lion Air plane, which saw 189 people killed.
"There are some things that we ask for explanation and some that we ask to be removed, and there has been an agreement between the NTSC and Boeing to release a new procedure to all Boeing 737 MAX users in the world", he said.
The announcement follows analysis that Boeing has done since the crash of Lion Air flight JT610 last week into the sea off Java.
Soerjanto Tjahjono, head of Indonesia's National Transportation Safety Committee told reporters that after one flight from Bali to Jakarta - the last flight before the crash - the left and right AOA sensors were found to disagree by 20 degrees.

Indonesia's search and rescue agency said the search effort will continue until Sunday.
According to reports, the initial investigation into the flight pattern of JT610 has suggested that the sensor was producing incorrect data which the flight computer processed to trigger further errors.
Boeing's safety bulletin also instructs flight crews on the potential malfunction, and the ways in which pilots should respond should the error occur.
One of the puzzling things about the accident is that the plane was flying in clear skies during daylight, so pilots should have been able to handle the issues they faced with airspeed and erroneous sensors, Cox said.

Bloomberg had reported earlier that Boeing was set to issue a warning to companies using 737 Max airplanes about flight-information systems. The incident happened just 10 days after another jet belonging to the low-priced airliner crashed with 189 people on board.
Pilots can counteract this for up to 10 seconds at a time by pushing a switch on the airplane's controls.
