Last month Dennis Dickey, from Arizona, pleaded guilty to igniting the fire which caused over $11.3 million in damage in April a year ago during a gender reveal stunt. "Dickey immediately reported the fire to law enforcement, co-operated, and admitted that he started the fire".
Check out the explosion that sparked the blaze in the clip above.
He also repeatedly told the judge that the fire was "a complete accident".
The video was released following a Freedom of Information Act request made by NBC News affiliate KVOA. The off-duty border patrol agent said he was trying to surprise his family with the gender of his wife's unborn child.
The fire burned almost 47,000 acres of state land in a little more than a week. "It was probably one of the worst days of my life".
The fire burned for almost two weeks, causing around $8 million (£6.3m) worth of damage, destroying more than 45,000 acres of land and forcing many people from their homes.
An elaborate gender reveal caused $11 million in damages.
Dickey was sentenced to five years' probation and ordered to pay $8.1 million in restitution; $100,000 up front with monthly payments thereafter. You can see the explosion above (looks like it was a boy). The Coronado National Forest is federal land operated by the US Forest Service.
